Solar heated VacSkip enters service
January 2021 - VacSkip Australia is proud to announce that the latest solar heated unit has been successfully manufactured and delivered to it’s new home at the Army Aviation Centre Oakey. The model VS0201 uses concentrated solar energy to heat an isolated liquid which is circulated beneath the floor of the unit. This process further reduces VacSkip drying times by adding supplementary heat to the contaminated contents.
New model announced
May 2020 - Following an extensive development phase, the design of the next generation, solar-heated VacSkip has recently been completed. The new ‘VS0201’ model will harness up to 2.0kW of free solar energy to assist in drying contaminated slurry. This improvement will ensure the shortest possible drying times while maintaining the stand-alone, ‘set-and-forget’ benefits of the original design.
National expansion planned
September 2019 - Following successful completion of the initial site trials, VacSkip Australia is now pursuing national expansion. The results of the trial at the Army Aviation Centre Oakey have demonstrated the VacSkip has significant benefits over other vacuum excavation spoil management approaches currently in use. The company is now gearing up to manufacture additional units to satisfy demand from around Australia.
Innovation Patent granted
June 2019 - VacSkip Australia has been successfully granted an Australian Innovation Patent. The Patent protects the intent and design of the VacSkip and includes provisions for the protection of future modifications and improvements. Legal protection of the Intellectual Property (IP) developed with the VacSkip is seen as an important milestone in the company’s pursuit of national expansion.
Spotless Innovation Summit award
June 2019 - VacSkip Australia is proud to have been awarded the ‘Most Creative Innovation’ award at the inaugural Spotless Innovation Summit held at Gallipoli Barracks, Enogerra QLD. The summit involved the team ‘pitching’ the VacSkip to a judging panel made up of both Spotless and Defence personnel. Attendance to the summit has generated significant interest within the Spotless Defence Estate Maintenance and Operation Services (EMOS) contract.
VacSkip site trial commences
May 2019 - The VacSkip prototype was successfully delivered to the Army Aviation Centre Oakey, QLD to commence a site trail. The trial has been facilitated with the support of site based contractor - Combined Trades Group (CTG). The trial period will allow for the equipment to be tested against the design intent and provide an opportunity to demonstrate the environmental benefits of VacSkip implementation.
Prototype manufacture completed
April 2019 - Manufacture of the VacSkip prototype has been completed in accordance with the engineer certified design. The process has utilised key suppliers from around South-East Queensland as well as our own team and facilities in Toowoomba, QLD. This milestone and initial investment represents a significant step towards achieving the Mission of VacSkip Australia.
VacSkip design completed
February 2019 - Utilising the internal expertise of our team in conjunction with Ignite Engineering, the design of the initial VacSkip has been completed. The design process has ensured the equipment is certified in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards. Furthermore undertaking a comprehensive Safety in Design (SiD) process throughout has ensured the minimisation of risks associated with the introduction of the equipment.
